Haden (Semi-Social)
Hello! My name is Haden (Semi-Social)!
Here’s what my friends at Española Humane say about me:
- Meet Haden, a stunning 2-year-old all-white cat with a shy and independent spirit. Haden came to us as a feral cat trapped and brought in by a good Samaritan. When she first arrived, she was understandably scared and defensive, showing classic feral behaviors like hissing and swatting when anyone came too close. Over time, though, she's started to calm down and now reacts less defensively, no longer hissing or swatting at staff.
At her intake exam, Haden's fear was evident-she urinated on herself and cried loudly from anxiety. While she wasn't thrilled with full physical contact, she did allow staff to pet her with a scratcher, though she would attempt to bite if touched too abruptly. Based on her progress, we've classified Haden as semi-social. With time, patience, and a gentle approach, she may start allowing occasional petting and develop a bond with the right person.
Haden's ideal home is one that respects her boundaries. She would thrive in a household where she can continue to live out her wild side-exploring, hunting, and having the freedom to roam and be independent. That said, Haden also appreciates having a safe, warm spot to rest when she's ready to settle down. She is not yet a lap cat, but with the right environment, she could gradually become more comfortable with human presence.
Haden would do best in a home that understands her feral origins and is willing to allow her to continue on her terms. She may never be a cuddly, in-your-face kind of cat, but with patience and respect, she has the potential to grow into a more trusting and affectionate companion.
If you're experienced with shy or semi-feral cats and looking for a cat who will thrive in a more hands-off, low-stress environment, Haden could be the perfect fit for you! She just needs someone who's willing to give her the time and space she needs to become the cat she's meant to be.
